Latest Developments at Fluke Metal Products
Electro-Chemical Deburring Installed
ECD is similar to Electro-Polish processing with the focus on Burr removal on Micro-Miniature machined parts. ECD has been most effective on Stainless Steel parts, however other materials can be processed with similar results. We have processed parts as small as .040 Ø x .100 in length with dimensional features as small as .005 without changing critical characteristics. We have the ability to control overall edge break radius of .001 to .005 with the added byproduct of the process improving surface finish. We have experienced significant cost savings for our customers for parts that require a burr free condition under 10X to 20X magnification taking cycle times that range from 6 to 10 minutes hand deburring down to less than 2 minutes per part.
New Short Run / Prototype Department
In response to customer demand for two week or better turnaround on simple to fairly complex tooling and machined parts we have installed a TRACK DPM SX3 Bed Mill and TRACK 1630 HSSX Lathe. We are able to provide one off to small run quantities at pricing below standard manual or CNC rates with the semi automation features of this equipment. Please feel free to contact us for your next prototype project.
New Capital Equipment - Kitimura 2Xif 5-Axis and Citizen L20
With the added capacity of our third full 5-Axis CNC Mill we are now positioned to reduce lead-times to our customers’ complex machined parts. This new machine is equipped with a Renishaw Touch Probe for in-process critical feature inspection and data output requirements at the machine. Our fourth Citizen L20 was also installed to keep up with the increasing demand for swiss-turn style parts. All four Citizen’s are equipped identical to offer our customers the greatest flexibility in capacity.
Process Validation Complete and Approved by FDA
Fluke Metal Products completes Process Validation for a family of machined medical implant parts for an industry leading medical device manufacturer. Working closely with our customer we completed the 4 month project on time meeting all objectives and goals. Protocols for IQ (Installation Qualification), OQ (Operation Qualification). SV (Software Validation), and PV (Process Validation) are now in place to efficiently support future validation projects.
New Capital Equipment
Fluke Metal Products installs our third Citizen L20 Swiss Turn Machine and another new Kitimura 2Xif 4-Axis Spark Changer to keep up with continued demand for complex machined parts to support the Medical Device and Implant, Electro Mechanical and Aerospace markets. This Citizen L20 installed increases our Swiss Turn Department to 5 machines and is a full 7-Axis, dual spindle machine with high pressure coolant. Our new Vertical Mill is another 20,000 RPM, 40 Taper machine bringing us to a total of 6 new Kitimura’s in the past two years. The addition of these two machines increases our capacity along with supporting our continued effort to reduce costs to our customers.
